Founder and Director of Scientific Storytelling

Sarah translates complex biology into clear, compelling messages that stick.

As a molecular biologist she brings scientific depth to her work, helping teams articulate not just what they do, but why people should give a damn. She has supported biotech companies in a multitude of disease areas, working across modalities from gene therapy and RNA platforms to biologics and small molecules.

Her path into science communication started toward the end of her PhD when she realized she enjoyed talking about the science much more than running Western blots. She retired her pipette and focused on telling the stories behind the data instead, spending years working across both the agency and media sides of biotech comms.

In 2023 she took the leap into independent consulting and started Ellinwood SciComm. Clients value her for how she shows up as much as what she delivers. She’s thoughtful but not overly polished, scientific but down-to-earth.

Offline she’s making tea, cutting glass for her next stained glass project, or attempting a Dance Dance Revolution comeback after a nearly two decade hiatus.

Ellinwood SciComm is a Maryland-based science communications consultancy partnering with biotech teams on messaging, scientific storytelling, and PR strategy.
